Description

Take an historical journey on a tour of the Greenwood Great House. The Greenwood Great House was built over two centuries ago. The Greenwood Great House was home to Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett-Browning, the famous English poets of Wimpole Street London in the 18 century. Greenwood is one of the best preserved great houses on the island.

Built throughout an era of elegance and brutality, Greenwood has retained the ambiance of the 19th century and continues to captivate the imagination of its visitors. The house was built by the Barretts of Wimpole Street London in 1800. Distinctive among all other local plantation houses built during that time, Greenwood endured the 1831 slave rebellion.

It is famous for housing most of its original furniture artifacts and antiques from the eighteenth century including the largest and rarest collections of musical instruments and books in the island.
